Social video games try to engage large groups of people by creating online alternate realities where a person can meet new people, do business, and even get married. These online communities defy the normal definition of video game as they often have no clear beginning or ending, no definitive goal, and no rules. Even common physics can often be circumvented in these digital worlds.

Retro Video Games
The other trend heads the opposite direction as quickly as possible. Included in this genre are hordes of mini-games on the internet, although some games put out on the open market appear to be not so much interested in graphics and sound as enjoyable, yet simple, game play. These games appeal to many who never consider devoting hours of their lives to a video game and the types of games range from dress up games for girls to miniature shooters and Tetris clones.

New Era of Gaming
One must conclude that we are entering a new era of gaming where instead of your grandma watching soap operas, she may be red lighting as a 19 year old vixen on IMVU or keeping herself busy with electronic Sudoku. Nowadays, there's a video game for everyone.
